Alibaba, the world’s largest online wholesale marketplace, has over 1 million sellers on its site, who use it to sell everything from handbags to raw materials to cars. With such an enormous variety of products and so many sellers in one place, it’s no surprise that there are also plenty of scammers lurking on Alibaba waiting to take advantage of you as soon as you make your first order. But don’t worry!
A complete beginner’s guide
A Beginner’s Guide to Buying From تسوق-بالعربي. Warning: Avoid any website with Alibaba or China Wholesale in the domain name and beware of emails from people who want you to wire money through Western Union, MoneyGram or similar services. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Check the reviews before ordering anything and always ask for photos (if they refuse, that should raise some red flags). If something seems too fishy, walk away. The internet has made it easier than ever to do business online. The hard part is being patient while waiting for your goods to ship internationally!
Step 1 – Decide what you want to order
If you’re wondering how to buy from Alibaba, start by deciding what you want to order. You can either search for an item directly or shop in Arabic, which is the most popular language for all of the products sold on Alibaba. Once you find an item that interests you, click add to cart. From there, it will take you through a series of steps where you input your address and shipping information before finally paying for your order. I recommend also looking into potential hidden costs, such as taxes and duties. These vary depending on the country so you’ll need to research them beforehand if this applies to you.
Step 2 – Shop around
Once you’ve found what you want, it’s important to shop around for the best price. The more vendors you contact, the better your chances are of finding a good price. Some sellers will also match or beat other prices if they know that you’re about to buy from someone else.
It is also very important not to divulge any personal information when shopping and be wary of scams. If a deal sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Use caution with buyers who want to use an escrow service as these often turn out to be fraudulent. And never wire money outside of China unless you’re certain about who you are sending money too! We recommend that our readers contact us before making their first purchase on AliExpress. We can help them find the product they need at a competitive price.
Step 3 – Filter for trusted sellers
Shop in Arabic is a great way to find trusted sellers on the site. Simply search for shops with Arabic as their main language and click view more results to see all of the shops that meet your criteria. You can also filter these results by choosing what type of product you are looking for, such as shoes or electronics. Once you find a few potential sellers, make sure to take advantage of those little green checkmark icons next to each one! The icons indicate how many customers have left reviews about the seller and how satisfied they were with their purchase. A five-star rating indicates that at least 95% of people who purchased from the seller were very happy with their purchase. A four-star rating means at least 75% of people who purchased from this seller were very happy with it. And so on. It’s important to note, however, that the ratings are only calculated based on customers who actually reviewed the seller – if not enough people leave reviews, then there’s no point in paying attention to them at all!
Step 4 – Know what you’re buying
If you are buying a product from China, it is often a good idea to check the reviews. Reviews are a great way to get a feel for whether or not the company is legitimate. It can also be helpful to read about other people’s experiences with that specific product, such as how long it took for them to receive their shipment and if there were any issues with the product itself. Reading about these things will help give an indication of what you should expect. Remember, no matter what your buying experience is like, keep calm and carry on! Even if something goes wrong, remember that communication is key in order to solve the problem. Remembering this might just save you money and time. One thing I found particularly helpful is taking screenshots of my conversations with the vendor in case anything ever comes up later on down the line. Also, take screenshots when ordering something to ensure that when it arrives at your door, everything matches up!
Step 5 – Send your request
Review your order and then send the request. Once you submit the request, the supplier will be notified of your intent to purchase. The supplier may either accept or reject your offer depending on their available inventory, production capacity, and other factors. If the supplier rejects your offer, there is nothing more for you to do but try another seller. If the supplier accepts your offer and starts working on manufacturing your product, they will contact you with a quote for shipping costs. You can negotiate shipping prices before agreeing on a final price with the seller and submitting payment in escrow. The escrow service holds your money until it receives notice from both buyer and seller that the transaction has been completed successfully. Once this happens, it releases funds to the seller – minus fees. When you receive your products, confirm they are exactly what was ordered and that the quality matches what was described by the seller. Then release funds to them!
